About Dr. Larry B. West
The Rev Dr. Larry B. West has been preaching the good news since he was licensed to preach in 1992 under the leadership of his pastor, the late Rev. Dr. John Lewis Wright of the First Baptist Church of Guilford located in Columbia, Maryland. His pastoral journey began in 1993 when he was called to pastor the New Light Missionary Baptist Church located in Washington, D.C. In May 2002, Dr. West accepted the call to the Mount Airy Baptist Church as Senior Pastor.
Karen Taylor has served as the Assistant to the Pastor since January 2011. She supports the pastor in leadership and administrative roles. She provides spiritual direction and encouragement as the Spiritual Advisor to various ministries including the Ladies of Vision and Empowerment Women’s Ministry, Home Mission, Foreign Mission and Girl Scouts.

Assistant to the Pastor
Johnnie L. Sudds has served as an Associate Minister of the Mount Airy Church since 2002. He provides spiritual direction and encouragement as the Spiritual Advisor to the Greeters Ministry, the Very Important People Senior Ministry and Nurses Ministry. Johnnie Sudds is passionate about worship and prayer time with other believers. He has served more than 40 years in ministry.

Associate Minister
Roderick Moore has served as an Associate Minister of Mount Airy Church since 2003 having been ordained in 2005. By profession, Roderick Moore serves as a Special Education teacher which has aided in his demonstrative approach to ministry. He serves as instructor of our Transition Class and provides spiritual direction and encouragement as the Spiritual Advisor to the Get Acquainted, Hospitality, Outreach and Recreation Ministries.

Alvin Jackson served many years in ministry in New Orleans until Katrina relocated he and his family to the Mount Airy Church in 2006. He is passionate about making Disciples. He provides spiritual direction and encouragement as the Spiritual Advisor to the Men Knowing Christ Ministry.

Theodore Hale was born and raised in the Mount Airy Church and licensed to preach in August of 2018. His passion for biblical training has opened many doors including serving as a Church School Instructor and Bible Study teacher for the Young Adult population.

Our History
Mount Airy Baptist Church was erected in 1893 after seven men met to pray with a sick man. The Church has had 8 pastors over the years and continues to be a house of prayer, refuge for the needy and stronghold in the community.
